Reply with quote | #1 | Happy Samhain (pronounced SOW win), everyone! This is the Wiccan New Year and witches feel the sabbat is good for a day on either side - so, I'm not sure why I am saying belated. Samhain is a day when the veil between the worlds is lifted and we can chat more easily with our loved ones who have crossed over. Pagans put a candle in the window so that our friends and relatives can find their way home to visit. We also prepare a feast for them.
This Samhain I did a ritual in the woodsd by myself, but I am never really by myself, beause I am with the god and goddess always. I gave thanks to Hecate, the goddess of magickal arts, who made her way to the underworld to take Persephone back to her mom and Hecate's friend, Demeter. Because Demeter was so happy about this, half the year we experience the warm/light seasons (when Persephone is reunited with her mom) and half the year we experience dark/cool months (when Persephone returns to her lover, Hades). I love Hecate so much, because she teaches me magick that helps me rescue and help people.
I offered mommy goddess a pomegranite and left it at her feet in the woods.

Happy Goddess and God day!! I have been to Delphi were the high Priestess received psychic information from a snake. I went to caves in Greece that was said to be the navel of the earth. I brought some stones home with me and believe them to be magical. It was an incredible experience to wish for world peace and love to all. I think the Snake Goddess was Apollo’s twin sister. Liz, do you know who was the boy and girl twins in Greek mythology? |

Reply with quote | #3 | Hi, Robin. I have been told I was an oracle at Delphi. Who knows. The oracles are said to have hallucinated from the fumes that emanated from the earth. This put them into a trance. Those stones must be magickal for sure. The most famous high priestess there was Pythia. The boy/girl twins were Apollo and Artemis - god of music and light (and in charge of the oracles) and Artemis, goddess of the hunt and all things wild. They are Zeus'es children by his lover, Leto. Zeus hid Leto on an island so she could give birth in safety, because Hera, his jealous wife (and no wonder she was jealous!) could not harm her. Before Leto gave birth to Apollo, the island was surrounded by swans - which is why some statues of Apollo show him riding a swan. I love them both!

I use to have a keen memory for the Goddess details and then, I gave birth. Something about baby brain?!?! I once had a cat named Osiris, now it is Tigger the Tabby. And, our Chihauhau is the cutest and her name is Tinkerbell. My kid did the naming this time. |
